Premiere at the AMB: With the newly developed FZU, model, mold and tool makers receive an extremely compact universal machine with a high price-performance density.
At the AMB, which takes place from September 18 to 22, 2018 in Stuttgart, F. Zimmermann will be presenting the new FZU for the first time at its 128 square meter stand. The 5-axis portal milling machine is exceptionally compact and works thanks to its thermosymmetrical design very precisely. Particularly plastics, ureol and aluminum, can be processed. Model, tool and mold makers receive a flexible entry-level model with a high price-performance density.
The requirements that model, tool and mould makers have to meet are continually increasing - this applies in particular to orders from the automotive industry: The surfaces of the components must be almost perfect, the accuracies ever higher. Added to this is the speed with which manufacturers bring new models or variants to the market. While model, tool and mold makers used to be able to plan for the long term, they now have to be able to respond much more quickly to inquiries. As a partner of the user, F. Zimmermann GmbH has developed a flexible 5-axis portal milling machine with a weight of 35 tons, a length of 3,500, a width of 7,500 and a height of almost 5,000 millimeters, which is weight-optimized and particularly space-saving. Designed as a "hook machine", Zimmermann can set up the compact FZU in-house and transport it to the customer by truck or ship - without having to dismantle it. It is ready for use at its destination after a short time. Users benefit from a quickly available system with foundationless installation options. For its size, the gantry machine also achieves a considerable working area.
The base frame consists of a continuous construction that forms a U-shape. A thermosymmetrical portal sits on top of it: milling spindle, guides and other precision-determining components are arranged in such a way that their heating does not influence the machining quality. The centrally guided Z-slide has an octagonal cross-section, thus making it particularly stable.
Visitors to Stand B33 in Hall 9 can also obtain detailed information about the machine manufacturer's complete product portfolio. This is how Zimmermann presents itself as a solution provider at the AMB. Because the manufacturer always adapts the systems to the individual requirements of the customer with different equipment options and services. This also includes comprehensive service, such as a hotline outside regular working hours and remote diagnosis systems that enable the shortest possible response times if required.
