CHINAPLAS 2021 concluded on April 16 with a total of 152,134 visitors (149,771 local and 2,363 overseas). Despite the COVID-19 pandemic and the move to the new venue at Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center, this mega exhibition once again proved itself to be the ideal platform for presenting new technologies and sourcing latest products for the plastics and rubber industries in Asia.
Although the total number of visitors this year dropped by 6.85%, the number of local visitors has increased by 23.46% compared to the previous edition of show in Guangzhou in 2019. In addition, the Official Live Streaming platform has attracted 363,000 viewers and helped Chinaplas reach out to global buyers throughout the past four days.
Highlights and special concurrent events
With an exhibition area of over 350,000sqm, Chinaplas 2021 hosted more than 3,600 leading exhibitors from all over the world, showcasing 3,800+ machines, raw materials, chemicals and other solutions. Apart from the exhibits and live demonstrations, the trade show held a series of concurrent events under the theme, “New Era. New Potential. Innovation for Sustainability”, in support of the plastics and rubber industries and to introduce market opportunities amidst the current challenges.
The "SciXplore Forum" was the first grand event gathering “Super Brains” in the polymer industries, such as well-known scientists and academicians, in a bid to explore the future trends in plastic applications. The forum, "Tech Talk", provided visitors with live discussions on hot and cutting-edge technologies. Over 30 innovative technologies were covered and these were under the themes "Intelligent Packaging Solutions", "Novel Eco-friendly Solutions for Plastics", "Automated Precision Manufacturing", etc.
The medical sector was not neglected with latest medical and health products applications of plastics featured in the "Medical Plastics Connect". This concurrent event demonstrated innovations of medical plastics, such as the latest technologies of sterilisation resistant & antibacterial materials, biocompatible materials and new technologies for smart healthcare products, etc. The circular economy concept was also well-represented via the “Bioplastics zone", “Recycled Plastics Zone" and “Recycling Technology Zone".
One popular highlight was the "Industry 4.0 Factory of the Future" which aimed to provide the strategy to maximise efficiency and cost reduction in manufactures. The "Smart Factory" was set up at the fairground, with the joint efforts of leading industry 4.0 technology suppliers from Europe, America, Japan and China, and demonstrated the operation of digital factory by showing the intelligent injection moulding production line.
The 6th edition of "Design x Innovation" presented the "Asia Creativity in the New Era". Composed of two parts, "Design x Innovation Gallery" and "Design Forum", this special feature is dedicated to transforming the strong resource advantages in the plastics technology into a source of creativity for product design.
The next Chinaplas in Shanghai is scheduled on April 25-28, 2022.
