Redesigned to Take Metalworking Through Crisis.
Sirirat Sungvichai
“We have been frequently asked if METALEX is affected by the COVID situation.” Sirirat Sungvichai, Project Director of Reed Tradex, the organizer of METALEX 2020, the no. 1 machine tools and metalworking exhibition serving ASEAN spoke about the impact from the crisis on the show. “We cannot deny that the event has been affected because all sectors are experiencing the same situation; nevertheless, we have never stopped. Instead, our team has been planning and working even harder for our customers.”
The Covid-19 pandemic is a tremendous motivation that has driven everyone to live a New Normal lifestyle and has multiplied the importance of technology in daily life. This is also the case for the manufacturing sector. Changes in point of view from the traditional working style to the technological and mechanical adaptation not only will help to overcome this crisis but also to prepare industrialists for a faster pace of recovery once everything returns to normal.
“Over the past months, we have been spending time talking with both exhibitors and visitors. Many of them told us that they could not stop working, because, in order to stand up again, they must change the way of thinking and be prepared to recover what has been lost when the situation returns to normal. Various technologies and machines will certainly play a role in helping to develop the efficiency of both management and productions including cost reduction. Everyone still wants to talk to their partners, find new customers or sellers, and discover new technology. These insights have enabled us to create digital tools and channels that can help to connect buyers and sellers at any time without having to wait for the exhibition day. In fact, we have prepared a Hybrid Exhibition to add on benefits for our exhibitors.”
Hybrid Exhibition is a combination of physical event and virtual event where buyers and sellers will have alternative ways to meet one another and discuss business without any traveling or time limitation. “We have created an additional suite of digital platforms called On-demand Buyers Connectors that can help technology sellers build their identity and branding online and meet buyers through our business matchmaking service called Digital Sourcing which we have recently matched several pairs of buyers and sellers through this online channel.”
“Moreover, we have many campaigns and activities that are gradually coming out to educate and enable people in the metalworking industry to connect with each other such as webinars and road shows. Please follow our Line: @metalexexpo; Facebook: www.facebook.com/metalexpage and website: www.metalex.co.th to stay up to date on our activities.”
METALEX 2020, scheduled to be held from 18 - 21 November at BITEC Bangkok, is considered to be the largest machine tools and technology show in Thailand; therefore, Reed Tradex has been care fully preparing strict preventive measures for the physical event. Sirirat revealed that “Reed Tradex is a member of Reed Exhibitions, the world’s leading events organizer which organizes events in 30 countries. Among our group, we always share important information including health and safety measures implemented in other countries. Over the past months, we have been monitoring the situation and complying with government’s measures and regulations. We have put preventive measures in place including temperature check, nurses and an ambulance, and an isolation room, Thaichana check-in, physical distancing and density control, etc. All participants can roam around with peace of mind as your health and safety are our number-one priority.”

If there is anything we can do together to overcome this crisis, just let us know and we would be more than happy to assist. Let’s get over this hindrance to a brighter future together.”
