THROUGH the Hosted Buyers programme, over 200 companies from China, South Korea, Japan, Singapore and India, attended Alimentaria Barcelona, Spain’s food, drink and foodservice trade show held this April 16-19 at the Fira de Barcelona.
China is the most dynamic market for Spanish products such as pork meat, wine and olive oil. In 2016, it accounted for €1.1 billion, according to the Spanish Federation of Food and Drink Industries (FIAB). Thailand, considered the most attractive market for Spanish products, spent €72 million on products like frozen fish, fish flours and olive oil. Japan, India, South Korea and Indonesia are also key markets for Alimentaria.
With concurrent event, the International Exhibition of Equipment for Restaurants, Hotels and Mass Catering, Alimentaria gathered 4,500 exhibitors and 150,000 professional visitors.
Alimentaria featured over 100 workshops and cooking shows with a selected group of chefs that own 45 Michelin stars, while international wine connoisseurs led the Vinorum Think event. The Alimentaria Hub –a knowledge, trends and business centre – was venue to 12,500 meetings between international buyers and exhibiting companies. - Fira de Barcelona
