BASF exhibited its Performance Materials portfolio at NPE2018 and highlighted its more than 40 products, with interactive displays focusing on innovative solutions for the future in the areas of mobility, healthy living, sustainable materials and manufacturing.
At this year’s expo, BASF showed how its successful collaborations with customers have turned ideas into ideal solutions. BASF developed in partnership with Wabash National, leading producer of commercial trucking equipment, the industry’s first all-composite refrigerated trailer with increased thermal efficiency. A collaboration with SIASUN, supplier of industrial robot systems, created a lightweight collaborative robot offering significant weight reduction, contributing to less energy consumption. BASF and Essentium, Inc, an innovative additive manufacturing startup, present a revolutionary 3D printed prosthetic leg made from thermoplastic carbon fiber composite that allows for lifecycle modifications.
BASF demonstrated its material innovation in transportation, consumer, construction and industrial applications, and the processes that power those developments, such as performance prediction and 3D printing. Existing and potential customers were able to sit down with BASF’s material engineering and design experts for customized one-on-one ‘ideal solution’ sessions and experience the approach in action.
According to Juan Carlos Ordonez, Senior Vice President Performance Materials, BASF North America said that BASF is highly focused on innovation in the plastics industry and it has partnered with companies who are redefining what’s possible.
