Bystronic’s Taiwan country manager Tzu-Wen Wang believes that the company will also exemplify the excellence in laser cutting and bending technology in the Taiwan market.

International Metalworking News for Asia (IMNA) had an exclusive interview with Bystronic’s Taiwan country manager Tzu-Wen Wang. From the interview, he shares with us the recent focus and future aspects of Bystronic Taiwan.

Opening new options for the Asian market

Headquartered in Niederönz (Switzerland), with further R&D and production plants of laser cutting systems, and press brakes in Gotha (Germany), and in Tianjin (China), Bystronic supplies world leading solutions for sheet metal processing. The solutions cover laser cutting systems, press brakes, as well as associated automation and software solutions. Comprehensive services round off the portfolio.

“Entering the Asia region for over 20 years up until now, the company is absolutely thriving; we have factories in China, and offices in Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, South East Asia, Australia and India,” Wang stated. Bystronic also develops and manufactures laser cutting systems and press brakes that are tailored to the requirements of growing markets.

The reason why Bystronic can expand its operation in Asia particularly owing to the uniqueness of the company’s application- oriented-systems and services for laser cutting processes and bending. Wang explained why Bystronic is deeply involved here, “In Asia, Bystronic is strong at providing users with integrated automation of complete material and data flow – where reliability trickles down to the entire process chain of cutting and bending. Another feature of the company is our strong maintenance service. We aim to fulfil the SBB practice (service before breakdown); therefore, the engineers would be checking the condition of users’ equipment regularly and complete maintenance works even within during warranty period”.

An integrated and illuminating future for sheet metal industry

While Industry 4.0 underscore the concept achieving higher efficiency through integration, automation and digitalisation. Bystronic’s automation and software solutions facilitate the complete material and data flow. Thus, networked manufacturing processes are created within which machines, parts, and operators communicate with each other in real time.

In regarding to automation solutions, Wang elaborated that “Our automation solutions are supporting customers in the process steps of cutting and bending. Bystronic automation solutions are developed to fit perfect to our laser and bending machines. They support the customers to get out the maximum of their production processes. The operation of the automation systems is integrated into the machine operation seamlessly”.

Asking about the future of the sheet metal sector, Wang holds a positive outlook. He believes that as a fundamental sector of the manufacturing industry, sheet metal processing would not disappear, but upgrade. Especially when a number of industries such as energy, construction, semiconductors are simultaneously experiencing industrial upgrade, Bystronic’s solutions are designed to support this trend.

Wang emphasised that “Taiwan has a long history of sheet metal working, and it is also located in a very critical area in Asia. Thus, we are optimistic that local Taiwan buyers and overseas Taiwanese companies will increase their cooperation with Bystronic”.

He believes that as the supplier of upstream metal working industry, facilitating an industrial imagination for sheet metal is important in order to exploit the greatest potential of this sector.
