Food Industry Asia (FIA) has announced three new members, namely BENEO, GlaxoSmithKlein (GSK), and PT INDOFOOD Sukses Makmur TBK. A non-profit organisation, FIA was formed in 2010 by leading food companies, and has since grown to include Cargill, Danone, DSM, Fonterra, FrieslandCampina, Nestlé, Mondelez, Monde Nissin, Dole, Coca-Cola, PepsiCo, Starbucks, and many others.
BENEO, which provides functional ingredients for food and feed, fits right in with the FIA’s advocacy of health and nutrition. Its products are derived from natural sources including chicory root, sugar beets, rice and wheat.
Consumer health care company GSK hopes its membership to FIA will inspire development of better products based on insights from the food and beverage industry. GSK is known for hot beverage brand, Horlicks, and antacid products, Tums and ENO.
Over the years, INDOFOOD’s brand portfolio has grown to include a number for instant noodles, dairy, snackfoods, and beverages as well as edible fats and oils, pasta and flour. With operations in all stages of manufacturing (raw material production and processing to consumer products) INDOFOOD has called itself a Total Food Solutions company. As FIA member, it hopes to provide sustainable solutions.
