Hexagon GM on value creation strategy

South East Asia is a region that has demanded Hexagon’s attention with its robust market. Coming in with his own expertise of over 35 years, Taveesak Srisuntisuk has brought Hexagon Metrology (Thailand) Ltd on to the next level. With his role as General Manager of the AEC & Pacific region for Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, Taveesak is poised to bring much bigger focus on solutions and everything that requires delivering market intelligence to customers in this region.

This part of his history reveals him to possess qualities, such as forward-thinking, persistence and readiness, all found in a true business leader. Now that he is handling not just Thailand but also Singapore, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia including Australia and New Zealand, Taveesak sees the countries he handles through a leader’s eyes.

He notes that every leader brings unique personal strengths to their position; his happens to be in the technical business understanding. But he is keenly aware of many areas where he depends on others to contribute to their collective success.

“Hexagon Thailand is always number one in profits not because we sell cheap but because we have value,” he revealed.

“We offer after sales service and commit to next day service. In the past 12 years, only two engineers are left, the secret lies on in-house skills and experience. This makes Hexagon Thailand is a leading compared to other region; in other countries the turnover is higher. In order to build value, I will make one policy in the region with different strength each country”, Taveesak added.

The one policy in the region presented an opportunity for genuine value creation, but it must start with awareness of each country’s strengths and weaknesses.

Taveesak shared some notable business successes in 2018. For instance in the Philippines, Hexagon has sold a sheet metal CMM to an automotive manufacturer for car body inspection. On the other hand, Vietnam is now a company limited beginning February 2018. “For three years, we have good success in this country through our deal with a large sector of mobile manufacturer, and in 2018 we were successful to close a deal with a local automotive manufacturer,” he emphasized.

Taveesak’s leadership philosophy is one that places a high value on the contributions of others, while drawing on principles of his leadership style that encourages his team and managers to, above all else, serve their customers.

He pointed, “There is a tremendous opportunity for Hexagon in South East Asia, and it puts us in a position where we collaborate with many others. This year, we are in the process of establishing a representative office in the Philippines, which is expected to be final by Q1 or latest Q2. We already have the team just waiting for everything to be final. The good thing about the Philippines is that we can tap many markets. There is no specific industry market that we need to focus on. We can enter electronics, automotive or even mould & die. Moreover, we are in negotiation with two big projects in Vietnam for 2019.”

After speaking with Taveesak about the future of Hexagon and his role in it, it is hard to imagine that he has much time to spend in quiet contemplation. The chance to be at the forefront to one of the fastest growing economies in the world, is a strong advantage for the company. However, he must add value on the industrial production chain by bringing in more advanced technology to South East Asia.
