Plastics & Rubber Indonesia presents the innovative machineries and materials from 500+ exhibitors, under 3 concurrent exhibitions.
Plastics & Rubber Indonesia 2018, Indonesia’s leading exhibition for the plastics and rubber industry opens on November 14. The exhibition will run until November 17 at the JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta. Plastics & Rubber Indonesia incorporates Drinktech Indonesia, Plaspak Indonesia, and Mould & die Indonesia. These concurrent events showcase key technologies in plastics & rubber machinery, processing systems and materials. All expos also marked the latest collaboration with Printech Indonesia, a converting, package printing, and labelling technologies trade shows initiated by the Italian machine manufacturers’ association, ACIMGA, to support global expansion of Indonesia’s growing food and beverage industry.

More than 500 exhibiting companies from over 20 countries take part in the 31st edition of this international exhibition that is set to attract more than 13,000 potential buyers, professionals, and industry leaders. The opening ceremony was led by H.E. Taufik Bawazier, Director of Downstream Chemical Industry of the Ministry of Industry. Representatives from various associations also attended the opening ceremony.

“Packaging plays a vital role for the food and beverage industry. Thus, we connect hundreds of plastics and rubber industry professionals to speed up sustainable packaging, through its material development and process innovation,” said Wiwiek Roberto, Project Director of Pamarindo Indonesia, the exhibition’s organizer.

Recycling innovation and biodegradable plastics (BDP) are among the most effective ways to reduce waste through the use of plastics. Henky Wibawa, Executive Director of Indonesian Packaging Federation (IPF) added. “Retailers will never remove packaging from its process. As it is created to keep products safe for consumption. What we need to improve is how to innovate the sustainable process, through plastic use, waste management and viable plastic alternatives.”

During the exhibition, all visitors will also have access to seminars led by key industry associations, including Indonesian Plastics Recyclers (IPR), Indonesian Packaging Federation (IPF), Association of Indonesian Soft Drink Producers (ASRIM), and Komunitas Printing Indonesia (KOPI). The sessions will cover the trends, challenges and opportunities for lifestyle and plastic recycling for better packaging systems.

“The biggest challenge facing the packaging industry is creating eco-friendly packaging to help solve the global sustainability issue and plastics waste. Building knowledge to improve the workforce is highly required, hence the industry will continuously keep up with innovations and intelligent packaging,” said Triyono Prijosoesilo, Chairman of ASRIM.

According to a research by Smithers Pira, there are technology categories needed to achieve greater packaging sustainability. They include innovative raw materials, barrier materials or multilayers combinations of plastics through flexible packages, as well as the use of Near Infrared (NIR) sorting. To share these insights on key technologies impacting the plastics and printing businesses, exhibitors such as Benua Kencana Makmur, Kawata Marketing, ARBURG, and Bilplast Grapindo will also conduct seminars during the four-day expo.
