MULTIVAC is showing off its complete lines and automation with packaging solutions for medical products at MedtecLIVE
MULTIVAC is set to demonstrate its expertise in complete lines and automation with packaging solutions for medical products at MedtecLIVE (May 21-23). The focus will be on a line for packing pre-filled glass or plastic syringes. The other exhibits will include a range of solutions, which feature a high level of flexibility and efficiency, for packing medical products in small to medium-sized batches. That's because the trend within the sector towards increasing individualisation and greater product diversity continues unabated.

The packaging line for packing sterile medical products consists of a vibrating unit, a syringe infeed system, a R 245 thermoforming packaging machine, a digital printer for printing variable production data on the packs, and a vision system for inspecting the print image. The automatic infeed system loads pre-filled glass or plastic syringes into the pack cavities, and it ensures that the products are aligned in a controlled way. It consists of a shaft infeed system, a separating wheel, a transport conveyor and a pick & place robot. The infeed is synchronised with the R 245 thermoforming packaging machine and can be operated via the packaging machine's control terminal. The thermoforming packaging machine, which is capable of being freely configured, offers a high level of flexibility in terms of pack formats and the packaging materials that can be run.

Another exhibit is the compact R 081 thermoforming packaging machine, which is particularly suited to small-scale production or those companies wanting to launch into automated packaging. The machine can be used for producing both vacuum packs and modified atmosphere packs with reduced residual oxygen content. Flexible and rigid films as well as Tyvek® and paper-based packaging materials can be run with ease. The range of pack formats can be freely configured. The convenient drawer system ensures that format change is fast and simple.

Multivac

For packing sterile medical products in pre-made trays, MULTIVAC will present its semi-automatic T 260 traysealer, which was specially developed to meet the high demands of the medical products and pharmaceutical industries. This mobile and compact model is designed for running a wide spectrum of trays, and it offers a high degree of process reliability, reproducibility and above all flexibility. The sealing die ensures that a controlled sealing pressure and precise temperature distribution are achieved.

The C 300 TC chamber machine will also be featured, It is a high-performance model for packing sterile medical products securely in film pouches. The machine enables packs to be produced either as vacuum packs or with modified atmosphere and reduced residual oxygen content. Since the temperature-controlled and permanently heated sealing bar can be calibrated, it ensures that the machine achieves reproducible sealing quality.

MULTIVAC will also be presenting the Snapsil® packaging concept on the exhibition stand. With their integrated "snap-opening" function, Snapsil packs offer an innovative opening aid, which enables the packs to be used easily during hectic everyday life in clinics or care homes, even by elderly or disabled persons. Depending on the type of product, the pack can be equipped with a "click-to-close" function, so that it can be opened again for multiple use and then closed securely. In addition to this, tamper-proof protection ensures that maximum product safety is maintained. Snapsil packs can be produced on MULTIVAC thermoforming packaging machines and traysealers. The solution was developed in conjunction with the Snapsil Corporation.
