The 2018 ASEAN Automotive & Motorcycle Parts Manufacturing Summit (AAM) was successfully held at the Pullman Saigon Centre Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam from 17 to 18 April 2018.

Over 200 industry leaders gather in Vietnam

Organized by Ringier Trade Media, AAM is a crucial event that brings together key representatives from the metalworking and plastics sectors on a most timely topic of common interest: business opportunities in Vietnam's fast-growing automotive & motorcycle parts manufacturing sector.

This year with 26 speakers and over 200 delegates, of which nearly half of whom came straight from plastics and metalworking companies, high level presentations and networking were seen across the board. Compelling talks covered everything from the latest information on electrification of two wheelers, 3D technology, trends of material in wheel rims, innovative solutions in automotive light weighting, not to forget Vietnam automotive and motorcycle part manufacturing.

Industry leaders sharing future insights

Vietnam is entering into a new phase of development. Technology leaders and component distributors play an important role in supporting industry upgrade through enhancing supply chain efficiency.

While the summit centres on learning Vietnam’s manufacturing industry and the exchange of ideas and networking, it has also become the predominant platform for innovation speakers, Labthink Instruments Co., Ltd, Trumpf, Sandvik, Duane Morris and Makino to pitch its vision for the future of its products, both in the near and the long term.

During all those important keynotes from various associations, such as VAMA, VASI, and HAMEE, delegates who are a mix of metalworking and plastics users and makers, development and sales staff as well as partners, resellers and a wider community, were able to get a glimpse of Vietnam's economic development and localization requirements, along with the government's policy of attracting investors.

What made the summit more special was aside from the technical speeches, industry-leading presentations were held during coffee and lunch breaks. The summit was divided into two tracks, metalworking and plastics, after luncheon on the first day, and morning session on the second day.

Finally, AAM was a much-welcome reprieve from our delegates who came from Japan and as far as United States and Europe, but also a time to network and explore new technologies.
