Sidel acquires molds maker COMEP

On July 18, Sidel announced the acquisition of Cognac Moules Emballages Plastiques (COMEP), a French producer and designer of molds for PET, adding further strength to the group in the manufacturing of moulds and tooling. 

 

Pavel Shevchuk, Executive Vice President Services, Sidel, said that Sidel’s and COMEP’s complementary expertise will bring more commercial opportunities for Sidel while offering customers an optimal choice of partners.  

 

COMEP was created in 1998 to focus on the design and manufacturing of molds for PET bottles. Based in Salles-d’Angles, France, with more than 20 years of experience in this industry, COMEP produces over 4,000 molds per year for customers around the world. With around 60 employees, they were a first mover in the low blowing pressure technologies.

 

 

With this acquisition, Sidel is continuing its journey started back in October 2018 when it acquired PET Engineering, which provides brand strategy and design consultancy, packaging design as well as line conversion services and molds to the beverage industry. 

 

COMEP and Sidel will remain set on their current focuses with a strong, adapted go-to-market strategy to leverage their respective capabilities, while offering a full set of packaging services to companies bottling their products in PET. COMEP will represent a separate channel to market for molds and tooling. This means that COMEP and Sidel will take distinct commercial approaches while sharing best practices and capitalising on efficiencies whenever possible.
