Measuring technology specialist SIKORA is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, marking a half-century of innovations in the field of measuring and control technology. Founded in 1973 by Harald Sikora, the company has been developing and producing innovative solutions to increase productivity for its customers ever since. Over the years, SIKORA has grown into a global company with a diverse portfolio of products that serve various industries, including high-voltage cables, hoses, pipes, tubes, and optical fibers.

In the early days, SIKORA developed a non-contact measuring device for the continuous measurement of cable insulation, wall thickness, and concentricity during manufacturing. This technology became a global standard and the basis for the start-up. An inductive measuring method for power cables that measures the position of the cable, the sag, made the company well-known in the high-voltage cable industry. Laser technology, which uses line sensors to enable non-contact diameter measurement of wires and cables in the production process, also conquered the market.

In the 90s, SIKORA expanded its product portfolio and international presence, adding X-ray devices for measuring the wall thickness of three-layer medium, high and extra-high voltage cables during the cable production. These devices display the measuring results in fractions of a second, allowing operators to make immediate adjustments. Even today, X-ray measuring devices from SIKORA are part of the industry standard for CV lines, with approximately 1,800 devices installed worldwide.

SIKORA has systems for offline inspection and analysis of plastic material.

Since 2004, SIKORA has applied its experience in the cable industry to the hose, pipe, and tube market, using X-ray and laser technologies to ensure quality control. In 2009, the company entered the glass fiber market with innovative measuring devices for quality control in the drawing tower. Additionally, SIKORA's focus on sustainability and material efficiency has led to the development of devices that reduce material waste and scrap.

In the 2010s, SIKORA expanded its headquarters, launched a system for the inspection and sorting of plastic pellets, and introduced a millimeter wave-based measuring system for plastic pipes. The company also opened a new building in Bremen in 2019 for production, R&D, and employees.

SIKORA's success over the past 50 years is a testament to its culture of pursuing perfection with clever ideas, passion, and an ear for the customer. The company's commitment to innovation and quality has helped it grow into a global leader in measuring technology, serving a wide range of industries. As it celebrates its 50th anniversary, SIKORA looks forward to continuing to develop new solutions to help its customers increase productivity and reduce waste.
