METALEX 2011 ASEAN's largest machine tool and metalworking technology exhibition is working with world's leading brands to bring new machinery and technologies from 50 countries to the show. Many technologies will make their debut for the first time in the ASEAN region in response to ASEAN's opportunity to become the world's production base for automobile and automotive parts. More than 55,000 industrialists and manufacturers are expected to visit the exhibition covering 50,000 sq. meters to be held 16-19 November, 2011 at BITEC, Bangkok, Thailand.
A JETRO survey comparing ASEAN's automotive parts industry with China and India found that ASEAN manufacturers need to reduce costs to remain competitive in the automotive industry. In addition, they need to improve the efficiency of mould and die machinery and machine tools by upgrading to higher technologies and maintain their edge by using skilled labour. These changes will improve and strengthen their competitiveness and raise them above the Chinese and Indian manufacturers. As the Japanese Tier 2 and Tier 3 parts manufacturers move their production base out of Japan after the Great East Japan Earthquake, the demand for machinery at various levels have increased to meet demands for production for exports.
This year, METALEX is showing automotive production machinery for medium to high level production in the areas of cutting, bending, stamping, metal forming, welding, grinding, including instruments for testing and measuring. Visitors will be able to see the latest series from leading brands in machinery.

TRUMPF is bringing the TruLaser 5030 Fibre the highly efficient thin sheet laser cutter, the world's first machine that can cut metal to below 1mm without losing shape. From EUROMAC the CNC punching machine MTX FLEX 6 highly efficient punching machine for small size bores will be shown for the first time in Asia.
From Okamoto, the precision surface grinder ACC-SA series performs surface grinding with high precision equal to nano-technology used in medical equipment. From Mazak, their 2-D laser processing machine SUPER TURBO-X 48 Champion offers uniform and high accuracy cutting performance with a unique ability to work non-stop on different materials and different thicknesses.
Fukuzaan offers Cross Rail Bridge Type 5-Face machining centre AWEA MVP 5032 with automatic multi-face cutting power and maximum working range. This is the first time this machine is shown in Thailand. Hankwang's laser cutting machine offers up to 115% additional power and a monitor to display results in graphic format for modelling the workpiece before cutting.
Matec's 30L travelling column machining is their latest machining centre with high speed and high accuracy, to be shown for the first time in Thailand. OKUMA's vertical machining centre uses innovative hybrid lubrication, mixing oil with air, for utmost economy. Yaskawa Motoman's highly flexible 15-axis dual-arms robot SDA10D is slim it occupies the same space as humans for assembly applications. Each arm can carry up to 10 kg payload.
The machinery and technology innovations and knowledge at METALEX 2011 will allow visitors to explore the latest trends in technology used in manufacturing parts that require high precision previously required by such industries such as medical equipment, or aerospace equipment manufacturers. This level of technology is now in demand from manufacturers in ASEAN for their ability to produce high quality products and premium items.
Conference and seminar topics abound with discussions of the latest technologies. Other highlighted conferences are 'The ASEAN Economic Congress' for executives, and 'Business Matchmaking' to enable improvedJunior
