Costa Coffee opens in Turkey

ONE of the world''s leading coffee shop chains, Costa Coffee, continues to expand its operations across the MENA region with the opening of the first shop in Istanbul. This new opening lends further weight to Costa''s commitment to being the dominant player in the coffee market across the region. Once again Costa have teamed up with franchise partner Americana Group, whose subsidiary International Food Company will operate the coffee shops in Turkey and holds the franchise in Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. This new agreement will bring Costa''s international presence to well over 1,200 stores in 26 countries. Started in London by Italian brothers Sergio and Bruno Costa in 1971, Costa Coffee was bought in 1995 by Whitbread PLC, the UK''s leading hospitality company. The chain has continued to grow in the MENA region to over 300 stores in 11 countries, but still remains true to its Italian heritage.
