DuPont has new science & tech hub for ASEAN

DUPONT (NYSE:DD) has launched its ASEAN headquarters in Singapore on Thursday, an 11,000 square-meter space for the company’s administrative offices in agriculture and nutrition, bio-based industrials and advanced materials, as well as nutrition and health laboratories.

DuPont Senior Vice President and Chief Science & Technology Officer Douglas Muzyka and Singapore Economic Development Board Managing Director Yeoh Keat Chuan officially opened the office and technology center at an inauguration event at the headquarters. The science and technology hub is vital to the company’s efforts to enhance its competitive advantage in a pivotal growth market.

“DuPont is deeply committed to scientific innovation. The co-location of business leaders with scientists and engineers at the DuPont Singapore ASEAN headquarters will enable us to deliver solutions for the region and the world more rapidly than ever before,” said Muzyka.

“The growth of ASEAN is prompting companies to consider how they can better organize themselves to effectively serve the region,” said Yeoh. “Singapore’s strong interdisciplinary research capabilities, connectivity and understanding of ASEAN enable companies like DuPont, who co-locate their commercial and innovation functions, to accelerate the development of solutions and get to market faster.”

DuPont Asia Pacific President Tony Su said DuPont’s growth in ASEAN reflects the company’s commitment to applying world-class science in the rapidly developing region. “DuPont’s footprint in ASEAN began 43 years ago in Singapore and we now have eight offices and 13 production plants for various businesses throughout the region,” Su said. “This opening reaffirms our focus on the ASEAN, one of the key growth regions for DuPont in Asia.”

As with many companies in the food and beverage space, DuPont will be expanding in the ASEAN which has delivered consistent growth for the company.
