Kabra, Gloucester venture to make extruders in India

Indian machinery maker Kabra Extrusiontechnik Ltd. and American equipment maker Gloucester Engineering Co. Inc. are forming a joint venture to make Gloucester's line of mono-, three- and five-layer blown film extruders in India.The venture, to be called Kabra Gloucester Engineering Ltd., will let the companies take advantage of lower costs in India to sell a less-expensive line of Gloucester machines in price-conscious markets that Gloucester previously has not targeted. Kabra, based in Mumbai, India, will own 55% of the venture, with Gloucester taking a 45% stake. The new factory will be operating by year end with a capacity of about 40 lines a year.
