Machino Polymers Ltd. plans to build a 1,000-metric-ton-per-year polypropylene compounding plant in Chennai next year, thanks to growth in India's automobile industry. This follows the company's expansion six months ago, when it doubled capacity at its Gurgaon headquarters plant to 40,000 metric tons per year. Machino expects to invest $40 million in the Chennai plant, according to Tarun Saxena, general manager for marketing. Though acknowledging the challenges of the global economic crisis, Saxena sees 11 to 12% growth in the Indian automotive industry in the current calendar year. Most of Machino's production goes to that sector. www.machinopolymers.comKD VIII N7 Glowing
