Renishaw plc's REVO is a dynamic measuring head and probe system, designed to maximise the throughput of new and existing coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) by providing greater accuracy, faster measurement, more automation and new capabilities. It uses synchronised motion and Renscan5 measurement technology to minimise the dynamic effects of CMM motion at ultra high speeds. It also uses Renishaw's new MODUS software, which works with standard industry programming languages, to take full advantage of CAD-driven programming.
REVO is a contact scanning probe with 2 integral measuring axes, which can work in a true 5-axis measuring mode when using the 3 axes of the CMM, allowing a completely different method of checking impeller dimensions. The top face, for example, is measured with what Renishaw calls a' gasket scan', a rapid sweep of the top machined face in about 2 seconds, gathering thousands of points. This compares to the previous method involving four touch trigger points and taking close to 30 seconds. A best-fit calculation of this data allows the software to plot a plane through all the points, confirming the position of the face and its relation to other surfaces. In the near future it is intended to use this large amount of data to calculate if the surface is deformed in any way, and exactly which parts of the face deviate from the ideal CAD model of the component.
MENA accounts for two thirds of proven global oil reserves and is regarded as the world's most influential oil province, eclipsing all other regions by some margin. Over the next five years, the region will see strong growth in hydrocarbon production as the world becomes increasingly reliant on oil supplies within the region. Large-scale oil spills, global economic meltdown and increasing compliance have all brought significant challenges to bear on the oil and gas sector in the past few years.

They can use the REVO to compare the new virtual surface with the original part to validate possible engineering processes before making the cloned parts.
