Saudi Arabia's petrochemical industry is on track to further strengthen its position as the world's largest producer of petrochemical products, with large-scale projects underway that will push the country's overall production capacity to 100 million tonnes per annum (TPA) by 2015. A recent BMI Report further revealed that Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Sabic) alone is seeking to triple its total global output of all petrochemical products to 130 million TPA by 2020, including up to 20 million TPA of polymers.

Given this positive note, Saudi Plastics & Petrochem 2011, or The 10th International Plastics and Petrochemicals Trade Fair, will be showcasing brand-new products, services and concepts as the event complements the robust growth outlook of the country's petrochemical and plastics industry. The trade event will provide an ideal venue for international engineering companies, manufacturers, and suppliers of equipment, machinery and spare parts to showcase their products, services and the latest petrochemical and plastics processing technologies that will support the expansion initiatives of major companies.

Kamil Al Jawhari, Project Manager of Saudi Plastics & Petrochem at Riyadh Exhibition Company, said: "With large-scale projects underway to build new production facilities that aim to sustain the growth in production of various petrochemical products in Saudi Arabia, a much wider range of business opportunities have emerged for international suppliers and technology vendors in the petrochemical industry. The Saudi Plastics & Petrochem 2011 will surely serve as a conducive venue to support the business-to-business networking and marketing activities of key players in the petrochemical and related industries."

The event sets to re-affirm the Kingdom's position as the region's fastest growing market for plastics manufacturing. Despite the current global economic slowdown due to severe worldwide recession, Saudi Arabia has emerged as the most attractive investment destination in the Middle East’s plastic industries. In fact, the per capita consumption of plastics in the Kingdom has reached the level of the industrialised capitals of the world.

The booming activities of the private sector in the country and in the Gulf region as a whole are fuelling additional demand for petrochemical and plastic products. Moreover, massive construction of private housing and commercial centres, mega real estate development projects, industrial parks and economic cities, restaurants and hotels  -- currently in the pipeline -- will require the latest in plastic products

Saudi Plastics & Petrochem 2011 will run from November 28 to December 1, 2011, at the Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center. The trade fair will be held concurrently with Saudi PPSG – The 10th International Packaging, Printing, Sign and Graphics Technologies Exhibition, and Makinat Saudi Arabia 2011 – The International Trade Exhibition for Industrial Machinery, Machine Tools, Equipment & Technology for Saudi Arabia.

In addition to hundreds of trade exhibitors, Saudi Plastics & Petrochem 2011 is also expected host several national pavilions from different countries, including China, Egypt, India, Austria, Italy, and the UAE amongst others. For further information, please visit www.saudippp.com.
