Arburg, a Hehl family-owned company, has unveiled its latest machine technology, the hybrid Allrounder 470 H, in commemoration of its 100th anniversary. The new machine is a perfect blend of electric clamping and hydraulic injection units that helps reduce acquisition and operational costs and carbon footprint. It is also designed to be production-efficient, user-friendly, and reliable. The Allrounder 470 H has three performance variants - Comfort, Premium, and Ultimate - with various injection units and options that can be tailored to meet specific customer requirements.

The new machine incorporates technical innovations that are unique to Arburg. According to Guido Frohnhaus, the Managing Director of Technology and Engineering, the machine optimises the energy footprint, reduces cycle times, and enhances proven technology. Technical innovations that contribute to the machine's energy efficiency include the new oil management concept, flow rate splitting for simultaneous movements of hydraulic secondary axes, and the extended use of the Arburg servo hydraulic system.

Compared to a similar hydraulic machine, the Allrounder 470 H has an energy footprint of up to 50% better and can save up to 12,000 kilograms of CO2 annually. Additionally, the new oil management concept conserves resources by reducing oil usage by about 35% and using waste machine heat to preheat the oil, while the required cooling water capacity is also reduced by 50% to 70%. These energy-saving features result in significantly greater production efficiency, including a reduction in the dry cycle time of up to 33%.

Gerhard Böhm, the Managing Director of Sales and Service, explains that the Allrounder 470 H is designed to be user-friendly and reliable, with the experiences and suggestions of customers and service technicians considered. Predictive maintenance is an essential aspect of the machine, ensuring that maintenance schedules are planned accordingly. The Arburg servo hydraulic system (ASH), proven efficient in hydraulic and electric Allrounders, has been integrated into the Comfort and Premium models, ensuring energy-efficient and low-emission operations.

Flow rate splitting for simultaneous movements, another innovative feature, enables the driving of an additional secondary axis, reducing total energy consumption and cycle times. The new oil management concept also improves machine availability, reduces energy and cooling water consumption, and increases the service life of individual components. To improve user-friendliness, Arburg has implemented design simplifications such as a real-time Ethernet bus that replaces the individual ribbon cables of the control modules.

All told, the Arburg Allrounder 470 H is a unique hybrid machine that combines the benefits of electric and hydraulic systems to produce an energy-efficient, cost-effective, and environmentally-friendly machine. The machine's technical innovations, user-friendliness, and reliability make it a must-have for manufacturers looking to optimise their production processes. Arburg's commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction is evident in this latest offering, which marks the start of a new generation of machines.
