Royal DSM, a global science-based company active in Health, Nutrition & Bioscience, has announced the launch of a new sustainably focused campaign that encourages the use of algae-derived omega-3 ingredients. DSM aims to educate global audiences on the impact of overfishing on the marine ecosystem. Officially launched on Earth Day 2022 (April 22nd), the campaign coincides with the expansion of DSM's market-leading life’s™ range of algal-sourced omega-3 products, to include two new line extensions. More information on the campaign, including an immersive and impactful video exploring the positive difference that sustainably sourced omega-3 solutions can have on ocean life, can be found on a dedicated new microsite: seathedifference.dsm.com
More choice, less impact
In expanding the life's™ portfolio, which includes products like life's™OMEGA* and life’sDHA®, DSM aimed to create an omega-3 alternative to fish oil with zero impact on marine life, while maintaining high quality and potency. From here, DSM has invested – and will continue to invest – in developing new formulations to meet evolving market needs, while also expanding production capacities to meet strong market growth. The result? Sustainable and consistent omega-3 supply chain stability for customers and consumers alike.
· life's™OMEGA O1030DS is a powerful omega-3 solution offering both EPA and DHA in a single, naturally potent sustainable source.
· life's™OMEGA Ultra** is the most potent form of algal omega-3 in DSM’s portfolio, providing unrivalled plant-based omega-3 supplementation without blending or compromise.
Partnering for a sustainable future
"The theme of Earth Day 2022 is 'Invest In Our Planet', and that’s exactly the message our new ‘Sea the Difference’ campaign aims to convey. Because between 1970 and 2012, marine life declined by almost 50%[1] - a trend that DSM is determined to lead the omega-3 industry to reverse,” explains Brent MacDonald, Global Director Marketing, Nutritional Lipids, DSM. “As fish get their omega-3 from marine algae, making the switch to 100% algal-sourced omega-3s could save 22 million tonnes of fish per year and have a positive impact on countless diverse marine ecosystems.[2]
"71% of the earth’s surface is water, and we are all responsible for making sure our marine life is respected. Our team has worked incredibly hard to deliver solutions that offer exceptional quality omega-3s using sustainable production methods and we will continue to bring to market purpose-led innovations that help protect the health of our planet alongside its people."
