Emerson has introduced a new pre-built software and hardware product, the Energy Manager solution, designed to simplify industrial power monitoring with fast setup and intuitive operation. The Energy Manager solution is a plug-and-play system that monitors the energy usage of assets in real time, helping manufacturers gain greater insight into energy consumption and operating costs, reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, and maximize energy and operational efficiency.
The Energy Manager solution provides real-time power usage monitoring to identify and reduce waste, enabling manufacturers to reduce energy costs and carbon emissions by up to 30 percent.
Most manufacturers, including original equipment and industrial manufacturers, consumer packaged goods companies, and food and beverage producers, are under pressure to increase productivity while reducing energy consumption and environmental impact. However, as an energy-intensive facility, industrial machinery consumes a lot of electricity even when it is not in use. To better meet efficiency and sustainability goals, operators need to understand the energy usage of their facilities as much as possible to address waste and inefficiencies.
Emerson's Energy Manager solution measures energy consumption in real time, allowing plant managers to quickly view detailed values and identify opportunities for energy savings in idle consumption, peak loads, and more. The software's easy-to-use dashboard provides information on asset-specific energy usage, associated costs, and CO2 emissions for up to 10 endpoints (up to 50 endpoints with permission).
The plug-and-play system simplifies industrial power usage monitoring, enabling manufacturers to optimize energy use, reduce CO2 emissions, and improve operational efficiency.
This high level of visibility enables businesses to better manage idle facilities, optimize facility scheduling during off-peak hours, reduce electricity usage across the plant, and significantly reduce overall utility costs. Most facilities reduce energy waste by up to 10-30% and carbon emissions by 15-30%.
The Energy Manager solution is highly scalable, easy to integrate with new or existing energy meters, easy commissioning, and fast return on investment. The software can be pre-installed on edge hardware such as the PACSystemsTM RXi2-BP IPC, or as a stand-alone application installed in a virtual environment.
According to Eugenio Silva, Intelligent Automation Product Manager for Emerson's Discrete Automation business, "Reliable and accurate monitoring of energy costs and emissions is what many companies dream of. The new Energy Manager solution provides operators, plant managers, and corporate sustainability teams with greater visibility into energy consumption and operating costs. In this way, companies will be better able to follow up and achieve their goals, comply with regulations, and truly reduce their environmental impact.
For broader media and utility monitoring, Energy Manager software can be paired with Emerson Compressed Air Manager software to provide a clear and concise view of facility energy costs and compressed air usage across production lines, plants, and sites.
