Designed to improve nutritional profiles and textures, FIBERTEX® CF 502 and FIBERTEX® CF 102 address the newest clean label development needs while supporting the labels consumers want.

Ingredion Incorporated, a leading global provider of ingredient solutions to diversified industries, is expanding its offerings to include its first fruit-based dietary fibres with the launch of FIBERTEX® CF 502 and FIBERTEX® CF 102 in Asia Pacific and EMEA, with availability in other regions expected later this year.

FIBERTEX® CF 502 and FIBERTEX® CF 102 are the first in a range of citrus-based dietary fibres with texturising capabilities that Ingredion is offering to support the growing Nutrition, Health and Wellness trend and the accelerated demand for clean label. These citrus fibres can improve nutritional profiles and label appeal in a wide range of applications such as meat and dairy alternatives, dressings, sauces, baked goods and meat. By nature, they deliver a unique texture, enable the replacement of undesirable and costly ingredients, and extend and stabilise texture over shelf-life to reduce environmental impact.

Winnie Koh, Asia Pacific Clean & Simple Ingredients Platform Leader states: “We are excited to enhance our clean label offering to our customers. FIBERTEX® CF citrus fibres will expand our ability to meet consumer needs and solve our customer’s clean label challenges.”

Improved nutritional profiles and labels

In accordance with EU Regulation EU(1169/2011), FIBERTEX® CF citrus fibres contain >90% dietary fibre and are naturally gluten-free. These fibres’ inherent ability to control moisture and bind fat in a variety of applications complement Ingredion’s NOVATION® and HOMECRAFT® functional native starch and flour ranges.

According to Ingredion’s proprietary consumer insights programme “ATLAS”, consumers want to purchase products containing ingredients they recognise and accept, with short labels, health benefits and claims that convey naturality and freshness.[1] FIBERTEX® CF citrus fibres can replace additives, support “source of fibre”/ “high in fibre” and natural claims — this is an important feature considering that 77% of consumers in Asia Pacific are willing to pay a higher price for “natural” clean label products and 23% of consumers are willing to pay 30% more than original price.1

Reduced environmental impact

Citrus fibres come from peels of citrus fruits, such as lemons, limes and oranges. They are simply made from the valorisation of waste streams from the pectin industry, applying simple processing techniques.

Koh concluded: “FIBERTEX® CF 502 and FIBERTEX® CF 102 dietary fibres represent our next wave in clean label ingredients. Their ability to enhance nutritional profiles, improve our customer´s margins, and support sustainability while providing manufacturers with ingredients that deliver desired sensory experiences and on-shelf differentiation, supports formulation needs both today and tomorrow.”
