This innovative machine can simultaneously and automatically perform multiple tasks such as edge preparation, polishing, and decoating of workpieces.

World Premiere at AMB Trade Fair in Stuttgart, Germany: Rösler Oberflächentechnik GmbH introduces the DLyte Automated Cell, the first fully automated system for surface finishing of carbide cutting tools using DryLyte technology. This innovative machine can simultaneously and automatically perform multiple tasks such as edge preparation, polishing, and decoating of workpieces. With the ability to use up to four different electrolytes at once, the system offers seamless integration into existing manufacturing lines. Discover more about this breakthrough in surface finishing at Rösler's booth at the AMB trade fair, taking place from September 10 to 14 in Stuttgart (Hall 5, Booth 5C61).

Since April, Rösler has been the exclusive global sales partner for the DLyte CT series by Spanish company GPAINNOVA. The new dry electropolishing technology offers an innovative alternative to conventional cutting edge preparation systems. Hartmut Thier, Business Unit Manager Sales at Rösler, explains, “For high-volume carbide tool manufacturing, cost-efficient automation is essential for market success. We are excited to present this solution to our customers just in time for AMB and look forward to the response from the tool industry.”

Efficient handling of workpieces minimizes unproductive downtime. With dimensions of around 2.2 x 3.7 m and a height of nearly 2.5 m, the DLyte Automated Cell is highly compact, featuring two robotic arms that can automatically process up to 72 carbide cutting tools with cycle times between 30 and 120 seconds. A visual recognition system assists the staging robot in loading and unloading workpiece carriers, while the processing robot maximizes peak productivity by minimizing downtime.

The system offers unmatched flexibility by allowing seamless changes between electrolytes, eliminating setup times. “Traditional drag finishing systems required replacing media for different processes or tools. The DLyte system eliminates these setup times, allowing edge preparation, flute polishing, and decoating tasks to be combined in a single operation,” explains Thier.

Thier adds, “We believe the DryLyte technology is the future of carbide tool finishing, offering significant advantages to our customers. It complements our conventional treatment systems and adds substantial value to the industry.”
