In just a few days' time, UCIMA (the Italian Packaging Machinery Manufacturers' Association) will be participating in ProPak Philippines, the leading trade fair for the country's packaging sector. The event, to be held from 12 to 14 February at the World Trade Center Metro Manila, will provide an opportunity to showcase Italian packaging technology in a market that has become increasingly important for technologies for the agri-food and life science sectors.
As always, the collective will be organised under UCIMA's international promotion brand "We Make Packaging", and this year will consist of seven major companies: Agriflex, Bartom, Goglio, Ecopack, IMA Spa-Pharma Division, Ipi and Tropical Food Machinery.
Italy remains the Philippines' second-largest trading partner for packaging machinery behind China and ahead of Germany. In the first nine months of 2024, the Philippines imported packaging machinery worth a total of €128 million (16% more than in the same period in 2023), while Italian imports grew by 24.2%.
The Philippines has experienced rapid growth in the agri-food industry in recent years and is also witnessing significant development in the beverage, pharmaceutical and personal care sectors.
