Adsorber for large-scale chromatography processes

Albert Handtmann Armaturenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG offers turnkey, fully automatable RFC (Radial Flow Column) plants which are used, among other application areas, for the industrial extraction of the protein Lactoferrin from milk and whey. Lactoferrin is an iron-binding protein. It has both antiviral and antimicrobial properties. The protein is mainly used in baby- and sports nutrition as well as cosmetics and functional foods.

The radial flow modules are a further development of the already globally successful Handtmann CSS (Controlled Stabilization System). In addition to Lactoferrin extraction, the RFC system is also used in the food industry and in large-scale chromatography processes. Different adsorber materials may be used.

The RFC systems are compact and occupy a small space, and they are easy to handle and clean. They are temperature resistant up to 100°C. The modules are simple to pack and unpack. They work according to the principle of uniform, radial flow and are characterized by high flow rates. Furthermore, they are pressure resistant up to 6 bar.
