Shaaban Al Abtah, the company''s general manager, shares his insights to International Metalworking News - Middle East (IMNE) about JSC''s company operations and its future endeavours. IMNE: What is your company''s background? What products do you offer? Al Abtah: Established in 1992, JSC was an offshoot of its mother company, Al Jaber Trading and Contracting Co. JSC responds to the growing demand for quality structural steel works in the market. We manufacture decorative steel iron works like gates, modern design grill works and balustrades. Since then, our company has diversified its operations with the development of a modern fabrication facility meeting international standards and specifications for different kinds of structural steel works for buildings, towers and factories. For these, JSC has been recognized in the manufacturing and fabricating industry in Qatar. IMNE: What latest products have you developed? Al Abtah: Basically, our company is involved in the fabrication and installation of structural steel works. Our latest product is a high-quality heat resistant paint- thermal powder coating for the steel products. In 2005, we have started manufacturing Z and C Purlins consisting of galvanised iron that works as a secondary beam for steel structures. Recently, we have begun the production of overhead cranes with a load capacity of over 10 tonnes. IMNE: How advantageous is it coming from a big company? Al Abtah: There are a number of benefits being a part of a big organisation. Al Jaber Trading and Contracting have been in the market since 1970. In its operations, the mother company has been involved in major infrastructure projects and construction activities that have helped in shaping the emerging Qatar as a nation. With the Al Jaber Group on our side, we have all the means including infrastructure, resources, manpower, certification, reputation, equipment, local knowledge, connections, and administration and support staff to provide a wide range of proven techniques aligned with the international expertise and diverse services. At present, there is a plan of building three - and four - star hotels in Qatar, where all the logistics will be carried out by the member-companies of the group. This includes the engineering and construction to the carpentry, interior decoration and to the branding and media production. All the materials that will be used in the projects, from steel and concrete in the foundations to the gypsum in the ceiling tiles will be manufactured by the member - companies.
