Alfa Laval launches new spring-loaded safety valve

Alfa Laval has recently introduced the Alfa Laval Safety Valve true spring-loaded safety valve. This valve aims to complete the strongest safety valve portfolio in the market and is designed to protect both equipment and users. It is calibrated to the desired pressure set point, and sealed and delivered with a PED certificate. In addition to providing protection against costly and devastating accidents, the valve adopts a hygienic design that eliminates unsanitary leaks and overflow during and after pressure peaks.

The Alfa Laval Safety Valve will open at a predetermined set pressure when used in a potentially dangerous situation. Its compressed spring force, which keeps the valve closed, will be forced open when pressure builds up at the inlet of the safety valve. The valve will discharge and decrease pressure as these forces balance out to ultimately reclose as the system returns to normal.

The new valve also complements the Alfa Laval Scandi Brew range, which comprises recently launched anti-vacuum and overpressure valves, namely the Alfa Laval SB Pressure Relief Valve, Alfa Laval SB Anti Vacuum Valve, and Alfa Laval SB Anti Vacuum House. These safety valves are designed to protect against overpressure in tanks and pipelines resulting from overfilling or fermentation processes. They also protect against implosion due to vacuum resulting from cold rinsing after hot cleaning or blocking of gas supply during emptying.

When combined with the Alfa Laval SB Anti Vacuum House, the Alfa Laval Safety Valve doubles as a combined safety valve to protect against both vacuum and overpressure.
