With more than 200 new exhibitors and a record floor space of 140,000 sq. m., the 23rd International Exhibition on Plastics and Rubber Industries or CHINAPLAS 2009, broke all records. As Asia''s No.1 and the world''s No.3 plastics and rubber tradefair, the fourday event attracted over 70,000 local and overseas trade visitors and gathered over 1,850 global exhibitors from Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, United Kingdom, USA, China and Taiwan to create unparalleled business opportunities for the plastics and rubber industries. Mr. Stanley Chu, Chairman of Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd, organizer of CHINAPLAS 2009, said, "Despite the impact of the financial crisis on the plastics and rubber industries, CHINAPLAS 2009 still attracted over 200 new exhibitors. Through the show, the exhibitors anticipate expanding their business network, and acquire greater understanding of the needs of their customers." New theme zone in support of the Sichuan reconstruction project To facilitate business matching and networking among visitors and exhibitors, 10 theme zones were set up this year. In addition to the original theme zones, the Plastic Building Materials Pavilion was specially created this year, with the theme, "Connecting Hearts with Sichuan ?Joining Hands on Reconstruction Projects." The new theme zone showcased innovative in frastructure and house hold plastic products utilized in the reconstruction projects of Sichuan. Another highlight of this pavilion was the set up of a mockup rebuilt Sichuan residential apartment. New technology showcase With the development of processing technology, plastics and rubber are widely applied in every aspect of the daily life -- including automotive, electronics and electrical appliances, information technology and telecommunication, building and construction, packaging, medical equipment, and toys. At Chinaplas 2009, a lot of exhibitors presented their new and advanced technologies for a variety of industrial customers. BASF showed off its range of innovative technologies and products targeting industries such as the automotive, packaging, building and construction. ExxonMobil has teamed up with several machine manufacturers at the show to demonstrate various solutions used in manufacturing and production lines. These demonstrations included applications for packaging, injection moulding for consumers and industrial products. Achieve win-win development by high-quality concurrent events Every year, concurrent events are major highlights of CHINAPLAS. Following the success of "China-US Plastics Industry Summit" last year, the organizer, Adsale Exhibition Services Ltd, was continuing this momentum in 2009 by joining forces with China Plastics Processing Industry Association, China Plastic Machine Industry Association, Taipei World Trade Centre (TAITRA), Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry and Guangdong Plastics Industry Association to present the "Cross-Strait Plastics Industry Summit 2009." This summit was held on 17 May and was the first of its kind in cross-strait regions to exchange market updates, developments and challenges facing the plastics industry. Industry professionals and practitioners congregated for this prime occasion to share new concepts, new experiences and new opportunities.
