CROWN Holdings formally opened a beverage can plant in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on 15 December 2016. The new manufacturing facility is a joint venture with Khmer Brewery, makers of Cambodia Beer.
The plant, which began commercial production in the second quarter of 2016, now operates with one line for 330-ml standard cans.

“Our goal is to provide Khmer Brewery with innovative and high quality packaging products and excellent service while protecting the employees and the environment,” said Timothy Donahue, president and CEO of Crown Holdings Inc. during his opening remarks at the ceremony.
Mr. Donahue added that with Crown as the leading global metal packaging company and being able to offer supply points and security through its wide network of plants across Asia, it can also provide manufacturing expertise and access to product innovation to Khmer Brewery as they grow their business in the future.
“As a partner we will play our part and with our collective effort we will expand this opportunity locally and regionally,” Okhna Leang Khun, shareholder of Khmer Brewery, said in his opening speech.
Mr Leang added that as a joint venture partner Crown offers tremendous expertise and experience in packaging, and together with the latest machinery, technology and professional human resource the plant will efficiently produce beer and beverage cans.

Crown already runs a factory in Phnom Penh and in Preah Sihanouk province. It began supplying beer cans to Khmer Brewery in 2011.
In Asia Pacific, it offers 13 different can sizes ranging from 150ml small, 250ml sleek cans to 330ml, 355ml sleek style cans and 500 ml standard cans.
At the recent Asia CanTech Awards held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Crown won three awards, namely Supreme Award and Decorative Award for the 355ml sleek style can developed for Monster Energy and Beverage Two-Piece category Award for the 375ml sleek style can produced for Pepsi.
