Operations Manager Tawfiq Al-Jamal shares with International Metalworking News -Middle East (IMNE) how important it is to deliver the right item at the expected time. IMNE: What is your company''s background? Al-Jamal: Meba is an ISO 9001 certified company, which is part of Khalifeh Industrial Co. in Amman, Jordan. It is a modern module industrial firm that has started its operations in 1992 in Bahrain. The company is designed to manufacture engineered non-ferrous castings and components to many industrial firms worldwide. Our company specialises in precision-turned components, brass hot forging and aluminium high-pressure die-casting. Our production is set towards export markets with clients all over the GCC countries. IMNE: What products do you offer? Al-Jamal: For the past 12 years, Meba has been producing pumps, valves, hydraulic power transmissions and water line fittings to its global trade partners. Our clients come from industrial firms involved in heavy-duty valve production, PVC manufacturing, auto parts, AC manufacturing, pump manufacturing and suppliers of plumbing materials. IMNE: What common manufacturing processes do you use? Al-Jamal: Recently, Meba launched its latest production line for casting bronze and steel alloys. The no-bake casting line uses the upgraded technology for metal casting and analysis. For brass components, they are being produced using multi- spindle auto lathes and a 300-tonne forging press. Aluminium die-cast parts are manufactured using 230-tonne high-pressure die-casting machine. Other production technologies used are CNC machining, automatic transfer machines, gravity casting line for brass and aluminium, and a chrome plating plant. IMNE: How do you view the metalworking industry in the Middle East? Al-Jamal: Metalworking industry in the Middle East is a growing industrial sector. With the booming of other industries, metalworking is a good venue of technological innovation where there is a wide spectrum of advancements in the use of machine tools, welding machinery, metal forming and metal cutting equipment. The Middle East is seen globally as a rich market for opportunities and investment. At the same time, this is a way of opening new doors for the GCC countries in providing all possible products and services that the Arab world can contribute globally. IMNE: Do you have any tie-ups with other companies in the Middle East? Is your location an advantage to your on-going operations? Al-Jamal: Meba works independently and doesn''t have any tie-ups with other companies in its operations. With regard to whether our location is an advantage, definitely Bahrain is a business hub. Its easy access to the Manama seaport is very convenient to process clearances in the transport of goods.
