Mr. Suttisak shared that they will take further steps in ehancing support for technology and innovation based manufacturing industry with the Federal Republic of Germany’s official participation as a METALEX Partner Country, showcasing high-tech machines and advanced solutions from 48 German companies.
He mentioned that the pressconference offers participant a great opportunity to learn the potential of German technologies, digital software solutions and the umati machine tool interface, to be presented for the first time in Asia.
Mr. Suttisak explained that innovations does not only raise competitiveness but also has the potential to spur growth of a new generation of high-valued added industries in ASEAN. This is an eviden from an increase in the import of machinery of metalworking during January to September 2019, which reached 39 billion baht. Regarding the import from Germany alone, the value reached baht 1.9 billion in the first three quaters of 2018, and then grew to 3.1 billion baht during the same period of 2019. This represents a growth of 63%, reflecting the need for high precision machinery, of which Germany is one of the experts and leading suppliers for Thailand.
