New centre formed to help recycle plastic waste

The Qatar University (QU) and The Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP) in partnership with the University of Sheffield of the United Kingdom, established a new centre for the production of environmental-friendly materials for the local industries.The Polymer Centre will focus on recycling plastic waste in Qatar, and will bring experts from the two countries together to optimise the mechanical properties of blends from plastic waste, improve thermal stability of recycled blends. The project starts in June this year up to 2012. Qatar is one of the largest polymer-producing countries in the Gulf region and it is therefore appropriate that Qatar University, as the national university, takes a lead in promoting waste reducing and recycling initiatives in the region.Gifts for Runners
