The service advocates better spare parts management toward cost reductions and increased efficiencies

SIDEL has introduced a new spare parts service designed to encourage beverage producers to adopt a more proactive approach to managing parts inventory toward achieving cost reductions.

The new service will combine three new order types, namely Emergency, Stock Replenishment, and Maintenance. It will be tailored to different production conditions and will comprise four recommended lists of strategically critical parts—Emergencies, Maintenance, Overhaul and Uptime—and a comprehensive portfolio of parts covering the company’s past and present range of equipment.

Beverage producers and bottlers are encouraged to plan their inventory ahead using the lists and order parts in advance. Besides lowering upfront costs, proactive parts replacement will provide companies the flexibility for better cost management and avoid stoppages with no critical replacement parts available.

The service, which acknowledges the need for timely provision of original spare parts, be it for emergencies or normal wear and tear, will be offered by the Spare Parts & Logistics team, part of the Sidel ServicesTM business unit. The team is tasked to provide a holistic approach to reducing total costs of ownership (TCO) whilst increasing raising overall equipment efficiency (OEE) and productivity for installed Sidel equipment in beverage production plants around the world.

Sidel has been boosting its global logistics chain in the past 18 months to support the new service. It doubled the size of its global parts hub and introduced new logistics technologies to enable advanced tracking worldwide.

The company offers a 24/7, overnight and weekend service. All of its distribution centers around the world are carefully selected because of their central locations and proximity to airports and shipping channels.  These ensure on-time and in-full delivery of parts.

Sidel believes only quality spare parts ensure maximum reliability, durability, and food-grade safety compliance. They enhance safety for operators, reduce breakdown risks, and guarantee long-term production security, all of which yield continuous production and better TCO. According to Sidel Spare Parts director, Martin Lowinski, spare parts will always be a critical part of beverage bottling line management.

“By being proactive in the handling of spare parts, customers are equipped to avoid long-term stoppages and unnecessary downtime,” Mr Lowinski said.

He added, “When even a few minutes of lost production can have significant financial consequences, minimising downtime is very important to all our customers—big and small. High quality spare parts, along with the speed of supply and planned stock replenishment programmes, are fundamental to achieving this.  We believe that proactively managing parts inventory is one relatively simple yet effective way for all beverage producers to eliminate unscheduled breaks in production.”

As part of this commitment, Sidel produces parts using only the highest quality raw materials. The parts are designed, tested, and certified by the same Sidel engineers who design the company’s machines, with the tests undertaken based on real-world mechanical analysis tools and virtual stress simulations. The spare parts come with warranties and include upgraded versions for older or obsolete parts.

Further, the company constantly reviews its portfolio to ensure parts stay up-to-date with the latest technologies, standards, and performance levels.  This guarantees customers receive a full parts solution, regardless of the age of the equipment.

Sidel taps into more than 165 years of production equipment manufacturing to ensure on-time delivery of parts to customers. It processes and ships almost 1,000 orders globally every day or more than one order every two minutes to over 30,000 machines in 191 countries. All spare parts are prepared and packed for each Sidel machine and ready for delivery to maximise customers’ uptime and simplify the overhaul process.

In addition to parts and bundles of parts, the company provides remanufactured parts and components. It offers complete assemblies or sub-assemblies for customer installation onsite.  Its engineers can refurbish assemblies and provide rotation assemblies to ensure production lines run.
