International Metalworking News for Asia
The October issue of International Metalworking News for Asia’s
Enterprise Close-up leads off with Israel Gonzalez, Regional
Director of Hypertherm Asia-Pacific titled, “Hypetherm: Shaping
Possibility in Vietnam’s manufacturing industry.” He talked about the
promising opportunities in the region, the state of the metalworking
industry, its business and plans.
This edition also includes two features focused on Metal Cutting.
Patrick de Vos’s feature, titled “Evolution of chip thickness models for
milling,” explores multiple factors that determine the results of metal
cutting processes. Another Metal Cutting article, entitled “Portal machines
for new business,” tells about a family-run company that started out with
a used machine. Today, the company has several production halls with
more than 100 highly qualified specialists, providing an integrated range of
services, from sheet metal working to mechanical manufacturing.
The October issue shows “How to achieve quality tool life in the 21st
century.” Production engineers faced with overcoming the challenges
of parting and grooving need reliable tools able to deliver class-leading
performance in terms of productivity, quality and tool life. Sandvik
Coromant is in close unison with customers to develop parting and
grooving technologies in order to bring direct benefits to the end user.
Be sure to check out the Software & Control section, titled “Software:
Another engineering discipline” and learn how automotive design is one
area where many different parts of software engineering have to come
together. It combines with mechanical and systems engineering. Like so
many once-mechanical systems enhanced by embedded software, it’s no
longer about designing a vehicle purely for driving.
December issue will be an exciting one as we hear the thoughts of
industry game-changers for next year. Also, we will be covering SolidEdge
University in Indianapolis. Justin Fishkin, Chief Strategy Officer from
Local Motors, will talk about industry disruption and the transformation
digitalisation brings to the manufacturing industry. So be sure to check our
magazine for these updates.
