Food Pacific Manufacturing Journal
From Halal to 3D FOR THIS ISSUE, we spoke to experts in various sectors of the food & beverage industry, and as always feature a number of the latest products. Our interview with Dato' Dzulkifli Mamud, the deputy CEO of the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation, is all about the current state of the Halal industry. Much can be learned from Malaysia where the Halal market is well supported by government. Some of our readers may be familiar with Alison Quesnel, executive director for Natural Products New Zealand, an organisation that represents the natural products, fuctional foods, complementary medicines, comeceuticals and nutraceuticals sectors in the country. Ms Quesnel whom we feature in boardroom connection, will speak on how to develop and market products using local and indigenous ingredients, at Vitafoods Asia, which takes place from 3-4 September in Hong Kong. In processing, we introduce the Lewabrane seawater reverse osmosis membranes from LANXESS. The company recently launched this product in Singapore, and Dr Rita Dicke, LANXESS vice-president, Asia-Pacific of the Liquid Purification Technoligies business unit, explains the benefits of this new technology. Also in processing, we highlight the latest in 3D printing and its benefits, from creating geometric confections to feeding astronauts in space.
